Helping Others Through Star of Hope
Supporting the community we’re in is not something we talk a lot about but we do and have done––in various ways––for more than 30 years. It’s important to us to give back when we can to help others––sometimes it’s people we know and sometimes it’s people we may not know (yet). Either way, each year we’re helping people who are right here in Bellaire and our surrounding communities.
With our most recent endeavor for helping people in our region, we’re asking for a little help from you to make it happen. By now, you’re well aware that the past year-plus has been challenging for so very many people. People who’ve never needed to seek help before find themselves now needing to and many people who needed help before have fallen even further between the cracks. In fact, one in seven people living without shelter this past January in the Houston area said “they were in that position due to the coronavirus.”
We’ve designated our neighboring nonprofit Star of Hope as the charity and plan on donating oral hygiene kits to give to the homeless population they serve. (If you know us, you know how much we tell you how important keeping your gums and teeth healthy is for your overall well-being.) This is where you come in. Those little extras you get at the end of your visit with us -- the ones that contain dental floss, a toothbrush, travel-sized toothpaste, mouthwash, and chapstick -- that’s an oral hygiene kit. And we’re asking, when you come in for your visit, you’ll say it’s okay to donate that kit to Star of Hope instead of taking it home for yourself. It’s that simple.
If you’re not familiar with Star of Hope, it’s been in existence since 1907. Part of its mission is dedicated to “meeting the needs of homeless men, women, and their children.” Thank you for helping us help others in our community.
